Hi Dolls,
Last summer, right around this time, my friend and I took a group of amazing young ladies on a once in a lifetime trip to The Ancient Mediterannean. We visited Italy and Greece and it was literally EVERYTHING I could've imagined and more. The day before we visited The Colosseum, our tour guide said "I want everyone to wear yellow tomorrow!" We didn't know why but the next day we all wore yellow and he told us that the color signifies warmth, happiness, laughter, cheerfulness, etc. He gave us his own personal story behind why he loved the color so much and all day people were wondering, and some even asked, why we all wore yellow. When we explained it, they would smile and nod in agreement. It gave us the opportunity to "create our own sunshine!"
When I was younger, I would steer clear of yellow clothing because a long time ago someone told me the color was too bright for darker skin toned black women. RIDICULOUS, I know! It's definitely one of my favorite colors for clothing now. It is beautiful on anyone, especially on deep brown skin. Someone told me it makes us look as though we're glowing from within. I love it!
Why are people so judgy anyways? I've heard some of the craziest things over the years about what black women should or shouldn't wear.
I've heard we she stay away from brightly colored lipsticks and nude colors. I happen to love a nude or pink lippie. It's all about how you blend things. The most perplexing to me is that black women shouldn't wear hair extensions because it shows you don't love yourself {insert eye-roll here}. There's nothing wrong with wanting a few extra inches on Monday and rocking a natural fro on Friday. We like options people!
Can we live?!?! We have this one life to live! It's so crazy how folks get so consumed with what others are doing with their hair, their clothing, their lives, and in the meantime they're missing out on what's happening in their own lives.
Anywho, back to this super cute look! I got this darling romper from Fashion Nova , who by the way, recently started selling men's clothing! I am so in love with this OTS romper! It so comfortable and I love how flowy it is. You would almost think it's a dress but they're shorts! There's a peep slit in the front so it's very flirty. You've seen these fabulous earrings before. I got them a long, long time ago at a Natural Hair Show and Convention. I've been on a look out for similar ones ever since. These animal print wedges are old as well from good ole Shoe Dazzle!

Starting My Summer in Forever 21

I decided to pull out a crop top to rock with these fabulous wide leg pants I scored from Forever 21!

Why didn't you tell me how clutch Target is? I mean, I know it has been around for ages and I've been in there plenty of times, but it wasn't until recently that I realized how magical of a place it truly is. I know they do the bomb collabs with high end-brands and they have that amazing $1 section in the front of the store but guys...I've really been sleeping on Tar-Jay!
It was a slow and steady courtship. First I'd visit for greeting cards because Target has such an amazing selection for just about every occasion. As our relationship progressed, I ventured over to the home goods section because Target always seemed to have the new and contemporary pieces I was seeking for my home. While there, I'd stop by the beauty section and throw all my coins at it! I was later introduced to the shoes and accessories and became smittened! I fell head over heels when I discovered cart wheel and the sales rack in the women's clothing section of the store. Target is now BAE!
I know, I know, you're probably like "Trice, seriously? You are so late." and I get it but sometimes the love you need is right up under your nose and you miss it wasting time at the mall. Haha! But in all seriousness, when I found the exact sun hat I paid dang near $34 for at a different store last summer, in Target, for $3 bucks, and my new favorite sundress for $8, I haven't turned back.

So why am I going on and on about Target? Well, because of the aforementioned and because my new favorite skirt, that I'm rocking in this blog post, came from Target and I got it on sale for a whopping $5 bucks! It was originally $30, it was marked down a couple times, then there was an additional 20% off with the cart wheel app! Ending price, $4.98 plus tax! I'll take it!
I love that this skirt is ruffled, asymmetrical, black and white striped, and that it hugs all of my curves perfectly!
It's starting to warm up, or shall I say "heat" up, here in Florida and if you know anything about me, you know I'm all about showing off these shoulders honey! This off-one shoulder top was also a steal from a quick run to DD's Discounts! I believe it also cost $4 bucks!

There are two accessories I absolutely have to have in order to feel completely dressed and ready to walk out the door. Can you guess what they are? If you said earrings and a watch, you'd be correct! I will actually turn the car around, if I have time, to add them to my look. If I don't have a watch, a bracelet will do. Earrings, on the other hand, are non-negotiable! Studded earrings are great but a fabulous pair of statement earrings will kick any look up a notch or two! They can make the most basic outfit, pop! My go-to for statement earrings is none other than Conscious Statement! This month I have the pleasure of being one of their brand ambassadors and I am so excited because their earrings are everything!
The May Conscious Statement Box, "Spring Fling", features this fabulous collection of earrings. During my unboxing, I was floored by how gorgeous they are in person. A picture doesn't do these beauties any justice.
There are a few things I really love about Conscious Statement accessories. For starters, they are complete eye-catchers! I've already worn each item from this month's statement box and have received multiple compliments for each pair! Secondly and most importantly, is that although they are statement earrings, they don't weigh your earlobes down. They are comfy enough to rock all day long! There's nothing worse than rocking a cute pair of earrings that you have to take off because they're ripping your ear piercings. The pieces from Conscious Statement will allow you to be fab all day and night!
I love all four pieces but I had to model these two for ya! The "Moonlight Blue" are so classy! My favorite color is teal blue so these are absolutely gorgeous to me! I love the tassel accompanied by the jeweled top piece.
These can be worn casually like you see here with a cute striped top and high waisted jeans, or with a dazzling cocktail dress to help make a "conscious statement", pun intended.
Considering the fact that I have worn the "Circus" earrings at least 5 times since I received this box, is a pretty good indication that they will be a go-to earring for me this Spring/Summer!

Making a Conscious Statement

When I was in middle and high school, I was the girl who walked around with a sketchbook, drawing every chance I got. I was obsessed with graffiti! I low-key wished I had enough guts to tag a wall or a train but of course, I was too chicken to ever do such a thing! I settled on drawing it instead and my classmates would pay me $5 bucks to draw and color their names in graffiti-like font. Yes, I was that good!!! To this day, I still love a beautifully graffitied wall! It's art I truly respect and appreciate and I'm especially excited to see these walls pop up all over Jax! This pink graffitied wall was the perfect backdrop for my last photoshoot! It complimented my look well! What do you guys think?
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that I am a sucker for all things off-the shoulder! When I first saw this romper, I literally vocalized the words " I NEED!!!!"
I love the lacey detail around the edges, the silky black base, POCKETS, and the pastel butterflies! I paired it with these cute pink lace-up heels from JustFab and if the look doesn't ooze Spring, I don't know what will!
People always ask me where I find my cute rompers, jumpers, and maxi dresses and my answer is typically the same every time! Ross Dress for Less, TJ Maxx, and Marshall's! If you don't like shopping in these stores, we probably can't be friends. No, but seriously, I ALWAYS find cute stuff in these stores. You just have to have a little patience and be willing to go through the racks! There are hidden gems in between those racks, I promise!

In other news, have you all heard the new Drake single, "Nice For What"? You've gotta admit that Drake has a smooth way of creating these anthems for us ladies! This song has all of us girls saying "Nice For What? All Summer 18" pun, most definitely intended. The next two pics are my "Nice for What" looks lol! You all know I usually show all 32 when I take my pics because as you can see my RBF is intimidating. However, considering what I'm currently mentioning here, these pics seem fitting.
For the few of you who may have been living under a rock and haven't a clue as to who Drake is (side-eye) and what this song is all about, let me briefly explain in my own words. For all self-respecting ladies out here doing their thing, working hard, making their own money, living independently, having a lot to offer, and bringing much to the table, what on Earth do you have to "be nice" to these lames for? There have been soooooooo many times, I've heard, "Smile ma", or "be nice ma", from random guys I don't really know, who couldn't touch me with a 10-foot pole. While I am in fact a nice person and smile quite often, I don't owe them that. Get ready to see "Nice for What" hashtagged on pics all summer long!

"Pretty Girls Love Trap Music" and Pretty Girls wear Pretty Pieces!
I'll be the first to admit that I have my moments of bougie but when I hear "No Hands" by Waka Flocka or "T-shirt" by Migos, all couth and inhibition go out the window for a good 3 and half minutes! Don't judge. I mean what's not to love about a song of no substance with a dope beat? Ok, so maybe these songs do have substance, for someone, but I digress. Speaking of trap music, I really wanted to visit Two Chainz's Pink Trap House in Atlanta when it was...well...pink. However, I hear the neighbors pitched a fit and it's no longer a thing. Anyways, besides loving trap music, pretty girls love looking pretty and Nicole Banks has everyone covered in the style department! Her boutique, Shop Pretty Pieces, has one of a kind, stylish pieces for everyone of all shapes and sizes! It can easily be dressed up or down...although rocking it with white distressed jeans like I did, still looks quite dressy! I can also see wearing it with a pencil skirt.

I'll be the first to admit that I have my moments of bougie but when I hear "No Hands" by Waka Flocka or "T-shirt" by Migos, all couth and inhibition go out the window for a good 3 and half minutes! Don't judge. I mean what's not to love about a song of no substance with a dope beat? Ok, so maybe these songs do have substance, for someone, but I digress. Speaking of trap music, I really wanted to visit Two Chainz's Pink Trap House in Atlanta when it was...well...pink. However, I hear the neighbors pitched a fit and it's no longer a thing. Anyways, besides loving trap music, pretty girls love looking pretty and Nicole Banks has everyone covered in the style department! Her boutique, Shop Pretty Pieces, has one of a kind, stylish pieces for everyone of all shapes and sizes! I haven't met a item of clothing or an accessory from her boutique I didn't like and this amazing floral, yellow, assymetrical peplum didn't disappoint either!
