Hi Dolls,

I never really understood the power of completing "lists" until I started taking my "bucket" list seriously! The saying goes, "If you write it down, you're more inclined to do it". A few years back my brother and I decided we would do something adrenaline-inspired once a year and we started with sky-diving. Since then, we've zip-lined through the rainforest, snorkled in the Atlantic, rode horses along the beaches of PR, and ATV'd through the islands. I've taken things a step further and started seeing more of the world. If you're like most people, you've gone ga-ga whenever you've see pictures or videos of Santorini, Greece. The perfect skies, colorful flowers, beautiful water, and pristine white buildings with blue roof tops will entice anyone who loves pretty things. It certainly lured me...so much so, I was able to scratch it off of my bucket list recently.

I finally made my way to Oia Village in Santorini during my Ancient Mediterranean vacation last summer and it was more beautiful than I ever expected.

This village is a bloggers dream! The white buildings are the perfect backdrop for photo ops!

We were only in Oia Village for a couple hours, as our itinerary was jam packed and tightly scheduled, but with everything so picturesque, having a camera ready to snap at every corner was a must!

For what ever the reason, the village was packed with visitors during this time so getting that perfect shot was a challenge, especially with the heat a-blazing, but for the most part I prevailed!

Every time I look back at these picture, I'm enamored with God's creations. This village is so perfect, these pictures almost look fake. It looks as though I'm standing in front of a backdrop. Nature's beauty!

The next time I visit Greece, I have to make sure it's during the cooler months. It was hot as fish grease out there. I think I sweat a few pounds off in those 2 hours but it was totally worth it!

Even though we were there for what seemed like a minute, it was an amazing time. I felt unreal.

These are the kind of moments I live for! For the rest of my life, I want to experience new things and see as much of the world as I possibly can! It's truly fulfilling!

When we got back to our cruise ship, I felt as though my entire 13 day vacay was complete! I think it was written all over my face.....and the fact that I had unlimited margaritas helped!

I'm not done with Greece.
It's been on my mind a lot since last summer so it's only right I return.

Next time I want to spend a little more time exploring Santorini! If you've ever been, please let me know what I else I must see! What things are currently on your bucket list?
Besides returning to Greece, I'd love to visit London next! (insert "thinking" emoji here)

Oh Oia!

Hi Dolls,

There is something so magical about being in the presence of archaeological sites and remains. It's like stepping into an old history book and using your imagination to see and feel what actually happened during ancient times. Throughout my recent trip to Italy and Greece I was consistently in amazement at how massive some these structures were and bewildered at how they're still standing after thousands of years. On my last day in Greece, we went to the Acropolis in Athens.

The"High City" can be seen from several locations through out the city of Athens and because it's so high up, you can imagine the hike it took to get to the top. Though this day was particularly scorching, the hike was well worth it!

Before making our way up, the fashionista in me had to stop for pictures near the olive trees!

I bought this super cute sun hat before the trip and I was so thankful for my hat that day because the sun was literally beating down on us!

Thank God for the trees because they offered up a little shade as well!

So what kind of teacher would I be if I didn't share a little history about Acropolis with you!?!? Most of us are familiar with Greek mythology and the city of Athens is named after the Greek goddess, Athena who was the goddess of wisdom, courage, and civilization. Acropolis was built in honor of her.

This is Propylaea, the entrance to the temple of Athena Nike. This is the earliest temple built on Acropolis. Walking up the Propylaea was extremely tricky because the ground still has original marble and it was very slippery.

Of course the Parthenon is the quintessential Greek monument that most would think of when they think of Acropolis. I have to admit, by the time I made it to the Parthenon, I was literally burning up so I snapped a picture and made my way back down the hill. However, from what I did see, it was beautifully constructed with marble. I can only imagine what it looked like in its prime.

Here is the Erechtheion located on the north side of the Acropolis which was considered very sacred. According to Greek mythology, this temple was dedicated to Poseidon and Athena. It's said this is where a salt water well was formed after Poseidon struck his trident and where olive trees grew after Athena struck a rock with her spear.

On the way back down I stopped to behold the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Located on a southwest slope of Acropolis, this is a steep slope theater that can house up to 5,000 people for music concerts.

As a matter of fact, after it's restoration in the 50's, it is still used as a venue for concerts. Artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra, and Elton John have performed here.

I seriously, can't hardly wait until I can visit Greece again. There was so much history and it's an absolutely beautiful country.....and the food is good!

I know it has been a few weeks but wait I can explain! I just got home from an amazing trip around the Ancient Mediterranean! Yep, that's right! I spent 13 days travelling around parts of Italy and Greece and saw some incredible views and archaeological sights! Of course, I did so while being comfortable and stylish, darling! I know most people immediately think of Santorini when beautiful Greece comes to mind and yes, Oia Village in Santorini was seriously one of the most breathtaking places I've ever been! I will share my experience in Oia with you soon but first let's talk Mykonos! It was easily another favorite of mine, especially as the sun set!

Mykonos is one of the more popular islands in Greece lined with white buildings, winding roads, beautiful sunsets, beaches, and all of the summer time feels!

In true fashionista form, I wanted to wear an outfit that would pop against the white buildings and blue trim so I went with this super cute and flowy yellow dress!

I'm still loving the off the shoulder trend and going to Greece wasn't going to stop me from rocking the look! Besides the bright yellow color, the sleeves and off the shoulder detail is what sold it for me.

But back to this beautiful little town in Greece...affectionately referred to as "Little Venice". The sunsets are gorgeous and there are plenty of waterside restaurants and bars to catch a bite or a drink while watching the sunset.

I'm sure most would agree that the 16th century windmills of Mykonos are the defining feature of the island and a must see! They're meticulously situated on the famous landmark hill in Chora and can be seen from most points throughout Mykonos.

Though they are not in operation today, from the 16th to 19th century, they functioned using gusty Nothern winds to help grind wheat and barley. Farmers were able to support their families by the goods they were able to manufacture with these windmills.

Throughout Mykonos are twisting and turning streets that one could easily get lost amongst but the charm and landscaping will help you forget about being stuck in a maze!

I absolutely loved the cobblestone roads and painted trim on all of the the buildings!

Because of the cobblestones, hills, and uneven pavement, I had to stick with flat shoes. I didn't need to sprain any ankles while on vacation!

Just as I hoped, the yellow dress was an excellent compliment to the white and blue streets!

And who can resist a photo with a beautifully painted blue door?!?! Or a hat with what appears to be someone's name on it lol! Obviously not me!

When I was in Vegas last month, I had the opportunity to visit The House of Blues for their Sunday Gospel Brunch and as expected, it was amazing!!! If you ever have the chance, please go to any House of Blues on a Sunday for a truly blessed time and great food!

Like all of the House of Blues I've been to, the decor is awe-striking! There are beautiful works of art showcasing legendary blues artists in the most unique fashion!

We had the some of the best seats in the house because we were right by the stage and were able to experience this anointed group of musicians and praise dancers "sang" and dance to the glory of God!

It was truly a blessing!

Now for a quick peek at my outfit!

The weather was pretty chilly so I pulled out the thigh highs and my favorite cozy sweater!

I did mention we were at brunch! They had just about everything you could think of. Fresh fruit, Omelet Station, Meat Carving Station, salads, BBQ, Jambalaya, Shrimp Cocktails, Chicken and Waffles, and so much more!

I can't forget the DIY Bloody Mary Bar!

I made this spicy with the HOT Mix and jalepenos for garnish!

But..I opted for the quintessential Sunday Brunch mimosa.

I'm back with part 2 of my PR trip. I don't think I've ever seen water more beautiful. We stayed at the Caribe Hilton and the view from our room was gorgeous as well as everything on site. Take a look!

The wind was trying to blow me away!

On this side of the hotel are hammocks,cabanas, pools, poolside bar, Starbucks, a jacuzzi, and an onsite beach!

In the hotel lobby are colorful talking parrots! They say "hello" and "Hola"! Adorable!

I rocked my natural hair that day and I loved feeling the wind blow through it! The weather the entire time was amazing! Not too hot, not to cold...just right. There was always a nice breeze, even in the middle of the day. It rained a few times but when it did, the rain didn't last long.

THE FOOD

You know I couldn't go on vacation and not share what I had to eat with you!!! Wellllll....I must preface this review by stating that overall, I was not too thrilled with the food in PR. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either. I did, however, want to try authentic Puerto Rican cuisine so I will start off with the restaurant I enjoyed the most while there.

(THE GOOD)

"Restaurante Raices"

While strolling the streets of Old San Juan, hunger set in and though there were several places to choose from, Raices was the most crowded so we assumed it was probably the best choice. The waiting list was pretty long but we got seated in no time!

The decor reminded me of a Spanish cottage and the uniforms the waitresses wore were a nice touch to everything else going on.

It seemed like every where we went to eat in PR, they served their drinks in these tin cups. I am now on a mad search to find and purchase them because they kept our drinks ice cold!

Two of us decided to order the Chicharrones de Pollo, fried chicken chunks. It came with rice and any side of your choice. I ordered red beans to add to my rice.

I had no complaints! The chicken was super moist and flavorful! It went perfectly with rice and beans!

This was the Chuleta Kan Kan, the biggest pork chop I have ever seen! It also came with rice and a side. I tasted a small piece of this and it was pretty good. Very fatty, but good. It reminded me of cracklin' . If you're native to Louisiana, you definitely know what cracklin' is. If not, take a look here.

These were the wings and plantains. My mom wanted them to be "SPICY" and boy did they spice these bad boys up! You can see the spice on them just looking at the picture and one bite would have you tongue on fire!!!!

Overall, Raices was good. Like I said before, it was the best Puerto Rican meal we had on our vacay. I would definitely recommend it if you were visiting PR and needed somewhere good to eat. The decor and traditional uniforms added to the experience which I appreciated as a visitor and the food was pretty good!

(THE BAD & UGLY)
"Latin Star"
I really wish we would have done our homework and read up on reviews before going to this place. I'm going to tell you now...DO NOT EAT HERE!!! It's not often I give bad reviews but this place deserved every bit of it.

(Look at my brother's face LMBO!)
Just looking at the outside, It seemed very inviting. Plus it was recommended to us by a local so we thought we had a winner....not so much. The staff was beyond rude but we over looked that, hoping the food would make up for their lack of good service....yeah, not so much.

Thank goodness for the complimentary bread! If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know how I feel about complimentary bread lol!

They were little bread bites. They were buttery, toasty, and chewy. It was honestly the best thing we ate here. I asked for a second basket. They told me O.K. and never came back with the bread....FOUL!!!!

For an appetizer, we ordered BBQ chicken wings....this is what we got............

Mofongo is a Puerto Rican staple that's made with mashed green plantains, spices, and a meat. It was only right that we tried it while in PR. This was the chicken mofongo. It came in a cool looking Puerto Rican dish but it was not a good eating experience. The mashed plantains were cold and thick and the meat tasted a little overcooked.

This was the plantain skirt steak sandwich that lacked ALL flavor what so ever. The plantains (tostones) were thick and bland, the steak was tough and flavorless. It was an absolute waste of money.

This was a Puerto Rican stew......I honestly was scared to see what was in it. It too was lacking in the flavor department.

Eeeek is what comes to mind when I look at this picture LOL!

This was their version of fried chicken. Weird because the BBQ wings looked fried and the fried chicken looked barbecued. The struggle!

Thank goodness for spirited beverages to wash this stuff down with. They were sorely over priced as well not to mention water was almost $3 bucks!

The food here may have looked appealing but we left there with rumbly stomachs and a bill over $100!!! Hey, you live and learn. When things like this happens, I like to say "it adds character to our trip!" If nothing else we'll always have our great memories including this horror story to add when talking about our vacation to PR.
There were a few other places we went to eat but they are not worth mentioning. These two were the best and worst restaurant experiences.

Mofongo is a Puerto Rican staple that's made with mashed green plantains, spices, and a meat. It was only right that we tried it while in PR. This was the chicken mofongo. It came in a cool looking Puerto Rican dish but it was not a good eating experience. The mashed plantains were cold and thick and the meat tasted a little overcooked.

This was the plantain skirt steak sandwich that lacked ALL flavor what so ever. The plantains (tostones) were thick and bland, the steak was tough and flavorless. It was an absolute waste of money.

This was a Puerto Rican stew......I honestly was scared to see what was in it. It too was lacking in the flavor department.

This was their version of fried chicken. Weird because the BBQ wings looked fried and the fried chicken looked barbecued. The struggle!

Thank goodness for spirited beverages to wash this stuff down with. They were sorely over priced as well not to mention water was almost $3 bucks!

The food here may have looked appealing but we left there with rumbly stomachs and a bill over $100!!! Hey, you live and learn. When things like this happens, I like to say "it adds character to our trip!" If nothing else we'll always have our great memories including this horror story to add when talking about our vacation to PR.
There were a few other places we went to eat but they are not worth mentioning. These two were the best and worst restaurant experiences.
