Hi Lovelies,
I've been living in Jacksonville for a little over 10 years now and it's great to still be able to discover new things about the city, year in and year out! I can definitely thank blogging for taking me out of my comfort zone and forcing me to get out and learn more about the city I live in. I have always known about the Budweiser Brewery, as it's literally a couple of minutes up the street from my house, but I'd never ventured out to it. At least not until recently! I was invited out to the Budweiser Factory for a private meet and greet with the beautiful Clydesdales who were visiting the Jacksonville location for the week! I've seen them on television, have always admired how beautiful they are, but have never seen them in person. I was definitely excited to learn that I'd be getting up close and personal with these beauties! I grabbed my friend Yuri, and we made our way out to Anheuser-Busch!
By the time we got there, we had just missed the last tour of the brewery so we'll definitely be making our way back for that in the near future. We were, however, just in time to meet the Clydesdales! The full hitch was there and they were definitely larger than life!
This handsome fella was Jack, the oldest of the hitch at 10 years old. I was baffled at how large they are in person. These pictures really don't do these horses any justice because they are quite massive animals.
Larry they handler, gave us an ear full about the history of the Clydesdales and a pretty descriptive run down of their day to day activities! Of course over the years, they've been breeded to be as large and strong as they are. Although Jack was huge, he was as sweet as can be.
You can see here how he just rested his cute head on my shoulder! In the second picture he started munching a little bit and I was like "Hold up Jack!" LOL! Overall, a total gentleman!
There were a total of 10 Clydesdales on the hitch and each of them varied in sizes with the largest coming in at a whopping 2000 pounds! We were told that they eat two of these bushels of hay a day and drink up to 20 gallons of water a day.
All of the horses that travel are males and the horse shoes are the size of small dinner plates!
It was definitely a ton of fun learning about them and Larry was a delight and the perfect person to answer all of the questions we had for him!

In case anyone was wondering, I got this super cute jumper from Target last week! Guys...Target has some serious sales! I have been totally asleep on how awesome Target is! The chambray wedges came from there as well!

The sun is out earlier and sticking around longer, my students are testing their behinds off, which means school is almost over, and The Players Championship is happening next week from May 8-13th! If you're familiar with The PGA Tour, you know that every year, right here in Ponte Vedra, TPC Sawgrass hosts The Players Championship. This year I had the pleasure of attending The Taste of The Players to get a little sneak peek into what will be served at the week long golfing extravaganza! If you plan on attending, there is no reason you'll have to leave with an empty stomach!
There is no secret that BBQ is popular in the south. People love the stuff and this year, you can bet your good hard-earned money, that barbecue will be abundantly accessible at The Players! 4-Rivers Smokehouse got the party started with this amazing looking concoction! This is the delicious 6-shooter which only has 6 ingredients including: Baked cheese grits topped with pulled pork, coleslaw, pickles, jalepenos, and BBQ sauce. It was very tasty and very filling! If you plan to attend The Players, you can find the 6-shooter at Palm Valley Village, 9th green and at the Greenside Lounge, 18th green!
How much fun could one possibly have without a great cocktail to sip on?!?!? Ok...so you can have plenty of fun with out an alcoholic beverage, it's just more fun with one! Anywho, the drink for this years Player's Championship is the Sawgrass Splash! Made with Grey Goose, various citrus juices, and simple syrup, this drink is super light and refreshing. So much so that you'll definitely need to pay attention to how many you consume because it's a "Creep Up On Ya" kind of drink!
If wine is your thing, look for the William Hill Estate Winery. They are the official wine of the PGA Tour and will be pouring up Chardonnay and Cab near the Wine and Dine on 9, Palm Valley Village, and The Wine Lounge.
TACOS ON 12!!!
TacoLu will be in the place with their delicious shrimp soft tacos! My favorite part about this taco is the spicy sauce it's topped with.
It's full of succulent shrimp and this spicy sauce and a scallion slaw...SO GOOD!
I'm glad they decided not to do "Fried" shrimp tacos. It is a golf tournament with minimal shade and fried foods just don't mix well with the heat!
Mojo Kitchen had some of my favorite dishes for the event! Have you ever had their brisket burnt ends?!?! Bruh!!!
They will also have their pulled pork sliders as well as their signature, Players only, smoked turkey wrap. They mentioned that it's a hit for the Players because its cool, light, and more of a healthier option. They also have jerk wings on the menu that are the bomb! They were my favorite for the tasting!
As I mentioned earlier, BBQ is huge around these parts. The que will be around every nook and cranny for The Players! I'll never forget the first time I had Southern Soul BBQ! It was before my food blogging days but my BF and I were on a little staycation up the road on St. Simon's Island, where we found this place and literally inhaled the food! Their BBQ is amazing! It's no wonder they were voted best BBQ in the state of Georgia!
During The Players, you can find them cooling it, in the shade, on the patio on 10, near the 18th green. They'll be serving their pulled pork sandwiches and funnel fries!
My friend, Christin and I had a great time at the Taste of The Players. It definitely got us excited about the actual event next week. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of other food options but as I mentioned earlier, this was just a "Taste" of The Players. I am super excited because this will be my first time attending The Players festivities. I've always shyed away blaming not wanting to be in the heat all day but when it's literally in my backyard, I have no excuses! I'll have my sun hat, shades, and flip flops on deck for some golfing fun in the sun next week! With that being said, stay tuned for the recap! As always thanks for stopping by!

The Bardot also has Old City Brew cold brew coffee on tap!!! On tap, folks!
I don't know if this is a normal thing, but I was so enamored by the fact that there's coffee on tap that getting one has been added to my list of "Things I Need to Have in My Life Right Now"! Beer on tap, yes, wine on tap, sure, but cold brew coffee...unheard of! Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a little but I FREGGIN' LOVE it! Soooo Universe, it's so cute and I want one for my classroom! I'd be the Teacher of the Year for that reason alone!

What's black and white, and hot pink all over? The Bardot Beauty Lounge! The decor is very chic and screams GIRL POWER! I especially love the color scheme of the pedicure area! The black and white cattle print is the perfect touch!
THE BARDOT SERVICES
As I mentioned before, The Bardot Beauty Lounge is a one stop shop! Offering waxing, lashes, makeup, haircare, cuts, color, and nails, they provide everything you need to get glammed up. During our morning at the Bardot, we got to experience their services!
I was excited to get The Bardot Makeover because it included airbrush, which I've never had before, and lashes.
The air on my face from the airbrush application was very relaxing! I couldn't believe how quickly Devan, my make-up artist, was able to cover my entire face with foundation. I can see how this would be the best technique to use for a wedding party.
Speaking of wedding parties, The Bardot also offers Bridal services and are willing to travel to you! I know right! They'll come to you in their super cute Bardot Beauty Bus! So picture this...it's your wedding day, and you step outside onto a bus with all your best girlfriends, to get glammed up to your favorite tunes while sipping champagne! What more can you ask for? This would definitely add character to your "Big Day" memories!

My girl, Tanner Mann, got a gel mani with talented nail artist, Janean Johnson!

I recently had the opportunity to spend a little girl time with The Bardot Babes and some of my fav fellow influencers at the Bardot Beauty brunch a couple weekends ago and it was a great time from the moment we walked in, to the time we left. The Bardot Beauty Lounge is definitely a one stop shop for all things beauty! The Bardot is not like your typical salon, in fact don't even call it a salon! Being true to its name, it is a beauty lounge. The morning really felt like a slumber party at a besties house! We laughed, we brunched, we sang and danced to the latest videos, and we did all of this while getting glammed up by the Bardot Babes! The Bardot is located in St. Augustine and from lash extensions to blow-outs, microblading to manis and pedis, they have everything needed to make sure you leave feeling radiant, refreshed, and ready to strut your stuff!
I recently posted the picture below on Instagram and asked if anyone is into self affirmations? I absolutely love that when you first walk into The Bardot, you are greeted with the hot pink, light-up sign that says "Hello Gorgeous"! Imagine having this in your bathroom and reading it every morning when you flip the switch...you'll always feel beautiful! I'm officially on the hunt for this sign! It's the perfect self affirming home decor piece!

We also enjoyed a breakfast quiche, yogurt and fresh fruit, salad, and champagne of course! Chef Brian Whittington definitely knows what he's doing over there at The Preserved Restaurant! Honestly, when I found out brunch was being catered by them, I knew it was going to be BOMB!

When speaking to the owner, Britnye Shore, she said the sofa is indeed vintage and you can look at it and see that it is in pristine condition!
I'm a total sucker for branding and packaging, so to see all of these gorgeous Smith and Cult nail lacquers, with the hot pink and black packaging, through out the lounge, added to the overall BAD-AZZNESS of The Bardot!
Seriously! What's not to love about these bottles of polish!
You're also going to find make-up, jewelry, and all sorts of beauty products through out the lounge for purchase. I think that makes for the perfect decor accents! Wouldn't you say?

In true "Girly-Girl" fashion, you have to be chic at all times, even when in the shower! I think it would be perfect for when you're traveling or even to walk around in the house with! ~MORE ABOUT RETHREADED~
Right in time for International Women's Day, I am really excited to share this post with you today! It's all about my new favorite social enterprise, Rethreaded. I don't have any personal stories, affiliations, or experiences that would contribute to my affinity towards them, I just simply respect, appreciate, and admire the work they are doing for women in our communities both locally and globally, who are survivors of human trafficking. I recently had the honor of speaking with the founder and attending the 7th annual Mukti Gala and have gained so much knowledge in a short amount of time that has made this organization so admirable to me. Please read on!
Rethreaded was founded by Kristin Keen after she spent time building relationships with women in India, on the streets, and in prisons, who have been victims of human trafficking. It became apparent to her that there was a serious need for safety and a strong support system that would help these women earn a living and the necessary skills to go out and be productive members of society. Besides a renewal of hopes and dreams, I am most pleased to mention that through the efforts of Rethreaded, there has been a decrease in recitivism right here in Jacksonville! Over 47, 000 hours of work have been provided for survivors through direct employment at Rethreaded and freedom has been sustained for over 2,200 women internationally.
Rethreaded imports products from companies all over the world and locally who are breaking the cycle of sex trade through business in their own communities.
I'm definitely going to get my hands on one of these purses!
Some of their "Freedom Partners" include Causegear, Joyn, Purpose Jewelry, and Sari Bari. Sari Bari founded in India by Rethreaded's founder, Kristin Keen. The products from Sari Bari include these beautiful hand-sewn blankets, bags, and home decor.
Many products are made by survivors at Rethreaded using upcycled materials. I love how cute the cap nip fish is! they've got a little something for eveyone in the family.
The signature Grace scarves are a popular item at Rethreaded. They come in just about every shade of the rainbow with a special color featured every month.
Most recently, Rethreaded partnered with Southwest Airlines to use upcycled leather from their old airplane seats.
It's great to see an organization that's bigger than self, doing so much good for women in the city of Jacksonville. Rethreaded won the grand prize at One Spark , in 2013 and rightfully so! One Spark is a local crowd sourcing festival for entreprenuers and innovators which I'm excited to announce is coming back this year! I had the distinct honor of attending Rethreaded's 7th annual Mukti Gala last weekend and it was a beautiful occasion!
My fellow blogger friends and I were truly blessed by the evening and humbled to be a part of it.
The gala was held at the beautiful Glass Factory in downtown Jacksonville and it was the perfect venue for the occasion.
Sidenote: This would be an ideal location for a wedding reception! It is incredibly spacious and has so much charm!
Upon arrival we were greeted by Manifest Distillery with welcome cocktails. Perfect way to get a party started if you ask me!
Through out the evening we mixed and mingled and even had the opportunity to speak with several figures from our community about their involvement with Rethreaded. There was a consensus that Rethreaded is doing admirable work in helping to improve the lives of women and our communities. Everyone spoke passionately about Rethreaded's mission and it was an honor to be able to speak with them all one on one.

We heard a rendition of the Andra Day single "Rise Up" by the very talented Chelsea Carr who did an amazing job bringing chills to everyone within the sound of her voice.
As mentioned earlier, there aren't enough great things I can say about Rethreaded. The Mukti Gala was exquisite and a dream to be able to partake in. After speaking with the community members and other guests that evening, it's apparent that the work being done by Rethreaded is remarkable. Some of the other products sold in Rethreaded range from coffee, coffee bags, handbags, dog toys, catnip, and artisan jewelry.
They have several products that would make great gifts and locally sourced coffee beans for your favorite coffee lover!

The survivors have used this leather to make beautiful products, including necklaces, earrings, and leather tassel fobs! All of these products are fabulous!
I really can't say enough great things about the amazing work being done at Rethreaded. I got to meet a couple of the survivors and they walked me through the process of making a Grace scarf.
I even attempted to help in the process and let's just say there is definitely a skill to it!
